Executive Summary

The Security Woodlawn Business Association, Inc. (SWBA) was founded in 1997 with a noble goal – to support the businesses in the areas of Security, Woodlawn, Gwynn Oak and Windsor Mill. We are a passionate team of volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure the success our businesses. SWBA is a 501(c)(3) registered, charitable non-profit organization.

Meet the SWBA Board

President: Shantel Mason

Shantel has been affiliated with SWBA since 2012. In 2016, she stepped into the role of Secretary under the leadership of President Barbara Cuffie. Since 2020, Shantel has proudly served as President. She is passionate about connecting local businesses with valuable resources and creating opportunities for collaboration that strengthen the community. In addition to her leadership with SWBA, Shantel is a Master Electrician and the owner of Shantech Electric Inc., where she enjoys the many facets of the electrical industry.

Treasurer: Anthony Carpenter

Anthony has served on a volunteer bases as SWBA’s Treasurer for 4 years and enjoys the comradery of the Board members and serving the community and its business owners. His expertise in business finance and management is an invaluable benefit to the Board as well as the businesses served by the SWBA. Anthony is also the Vice President of Business Services with Securityplus Federal Credit Union providing lending, account and consultation to business owners looking to grow, and sustain their business.  

Communications: Michelle Smith

Michelle has been the Communications Director for the last 2 years,on the board since 2021. She was the original Executive Director of SWBA years ago and returned by special request. She is the owner of Angel Wings Travel, is semi retired and looking forward to creating more opportunities for our members to grow and thrive.

Marketing: Alex McCamey

Community Liaison: Esther Santos

Esther is an Afro-Latina educator and community advocate deeply committed to uplifting students, families, and communities through strong partnerships and equitable access to opportunities. She joined to help strengthen community connections, amplify the voices of the Woodlawn Community families and students, and work collaboratively to create pathways, resources, and support systems that empower every young person to thrive.

Woodlawn Village Manager: Steve Blevins

Steve Blevins is a local entrepreneur, asset manager and community advocate.  On May 1, 2024 he was hired as Woodlawn Village Manager with SWBA to direct efforts in the Reimagine Woodlawn Village initiative established by County Executive, Johnny Olszewski, Jr.  Steve enjoys historic preservation and restoration as well as residential and commercial building, development, remodeling and design.

Administrator: Troy Williams

Troy joined the SWBA in May 2025 to support the Board’s objectives of enhanced community involvement, event coordination, member engagement, project continuity and increased online presence.  He is also a licensed real estate agent and investor.
